The Board of Directors of the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society is pleased to share with the BC Wine & Growers community the new appointment of General Manager Kimberly Hundertmark. Experienced and highly respected, Hundertmark is one of Canada’s leaders in Wine, Culinary and Destination Tourism. Leveraging her decades of experience and award-winning Festival leadership, we as a Board look forward to future growth and a unique approach to each Festival.
It was a unanimous decision to offer Kimberly the position of General Manager. Her passion and creativity in the Canadian Wine Industry are well-known and highly regarded. Before relocating to BC in 2017, Kimberly’s career in wine and tourism began in 1993. She has successfully held many roles understanding the industry from the ground up. From municipal tourism leadership to a eight year role as the Niagara Grape & Wine Festivals Executive Director she was instrumental in leveraging new relationships, community commitment, and engaging private and public funders. Kimberly and her team reinvigorated Canada’s oldest and largest Wine Festival, increasing revenue, visitation and partnerships.
Since 2017, Kimberly has been active in BC’s Wine and Culinary movement. Understanding the diversity and strengths within the Okanagan and beyond has been a personal passion and an education during various management positions she has held with Wine Growers British Columbia and TIME Family of Wines. In addition to lending her expertise to several Boards. “I am so pleased to continue my professional career as the General Manager of the 32 year old Festival. It was during a visit to the 2010 Okanagan Spring Wine Festival that my passion for BC wines was ignited. I have come to call this beautiful place in Canada home, the place where I am meant to be.”
The Festival Board recently underwent Strategic Planning to set the stage for 2023, when the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society commences reimagined programming that is next level. The ambitious plans include adding a Winter Wine Festival, something Hundertmark is very familiar with and excited to launch.
Heather Courtney, Chair of Okanagan Wine Festivals Society, shared: “I am very excited to work with Kimberly. Her passion for celebrating amazing BC wines, along with her successful legacy still thriving in Niagara’s wine region. It gives me confidence that the future for the Okanagan Wine Festivals and our British Columbia Lieutenant Governor’s Award programs is in good hands.”
